Have you ever needed to pull over for a roadside emergency? As you know, sometimes it’s a quick fix and you’re back on your way or it could be more serious.

As long as your car, truck, or other vehicle is stopped, you’re in danger of being struck by another driver who didn’t see you in time. Keeping the S-Light in your vehicle’s emergency kit can prevent a secondary accident and save your life.

Stranded on a long stretch of empty highway.

You can see a long way on a flat highway, but driving for mile after mile in a straight line, drivers also stop seeing things. They get tired, everything looks the same, eyes glaze over and they may not see your stopped vehicle until it’s too late.

The S-Light is visible from more than two football fields away, and its bright lights and changing patterns are enough to rouse a driver from road hypnosis well in advance. In addition, the SOS and HELP patterns can signal other drivers to stop when you may be out of cell phone range.

Low visibility.

Snow or any kind of bad weather greatly reduces how far you can see.

The bright, changing patterns of the S-Light can draw attention even through snow and conditions that may totally obscure reflectors or weaker lights.

Highways with winding roads and blind turn hazards.

Winding roads cut visibility down to the closest turn, which may not be far enough to prevent an accident. A traditional warning triangle or road flare placed on the ground are useless in these specific road conditions, they can’t be seen until it’s too late.

What’s different about the S-Light?

The S-Light, by contrast, can be mounted on your roof or side door, raising it well above the road, at driver’s eye level, so it can be seen from farther distances, giving drivers more time to react during the day or night. The S-Light comes equipped with a warning triangle that has no reflective background for daytime visibility.

Other drivers need to see you from as far away as possible. Your safety — and that of your vehicle and passengers — depends on it.

The emergency kit should contain enough to get your vehicle — and yourself — through a tough but temporary situation.

A basic toolkit, jumper cables, tools to change a tire, a flashlight, and spare oil or antifreeze can often get you back on the road quickly.

Or you may be there a while, getting cold and hungry while waiting for help. A blanket, gloves, and energy bars, will keep you going and thinking clearly.

Then there’s the little things that you need in general: battery charger, rags or paper towels, multipurpose tool (e.g. Handyman), pen and paper.

Unfortunately, these things won’t help if your vehicle gets struck from behind.

What’s missing?

When your vehicle is stopped you might be on a stretch of empty highway, in low visibility snow conditions, or far from cell service. How can you alert other drivers that you are pulled over on the side of the road?

Whether you’re outside fixing the flat or inside staying warm, a bright light tells other drivers your car, truck or SUV is there and not moving.

Reflectors can’t be seen unless the approaching vehicle is heading right towards them and already too close for comfort. Glowsticks and flares are not very bright, and don’t last. Battery-powered LEDs are brighter but still need to be on the ground, where they’re less visible in snow or ground fog.

If you’ve been on the road, then you’ve seen other stranded vehicles and remember what they did (or not) to keep you and other drivers from hitting them. You don’t have to make the same mistakes.

You’ll need something that is reliable and seen from afar at the driver's eye level.

The most overlooked accessory is an emergency signaling device.

The S-Light is one of the most innovative emergency signaling devices available today. It is a light wand that spins rapidly, using afterimages to spell out SOS, HELP and display a warning triangle. Sort of like patterns that appear inside a spinning pinwheel, but with a message.

Unlike other lights:

  • The S-Light is visible up to 660 feet away — two football fields, plus the end zones.
  • Its scratch-free magnetic base with flexible arm attaches anywhere on your vehicle, like the roof or door, making it easier to see from farther away.
  • It’s waterproof and weather-resistant.

Whether you’re a truck driver or salesperson who lives on the road, or a concerned parent whose college kid drives home for the holidays, we designed the S-Light to make sure you and your loved ones arrive safely.

We created the S-Light to prevent secondary crashes, help individuals signal for help when stranded in rural areas, and be seen when pulled over in conditions that have low visibility using our advanced LED technology.

We’re certain that this award is only the beginning. Kono America’s founder and S-Light inventor, Kono Kim states, “It was an honor to receive this award in the presence of several innovative and influential companies within the auto industry. Receiving this award is a step closer to the S-Light becoming the must-have signaling device for all emergency road safety kits.”
